The Challenges of Online Marketing From Home
Would you like to work from home? Are you retired or, heaven forbid, retrenched? Or do you just want to get out of the rat-race, which the rats seem to be winning at the moment? Working from home has many benefits, not just the incentive to work as much or as little as you want. It also offers flexibility of time and reduces the overheads that are involved with brick and mortar businesses. An online marketing business is something that many people see as a desirable means to earn a living, working from the comfort of one’s home.
There are, of course, many obstacles and challenges facing online marketers operating from home. The distractions from things happening around the home, such as children needing attention at most inconvenient times, the vacuum cleaner buzzing in the lounge while the cleaner is doing her (or his) job, power failure just before you have saved your latest brilliant marketing strategy and much, much more. To say nothing of emails, cellphones, friends popping in and so on and so on.
The advantages far outweigh the difficulties, however. Freedom from the daily traffic while you commute to your office in the city. No boss peering over your shoulder to make sure you are earning this pittance he (or she) calls your salary. None of the dramas and difficulties your work-mates think you can solve for them. We all have problems and difficulties from time to time, but it is up to us as individuals to sort out our own lives first. It has been proved that 95% of the expected difficulty actually doesn’t occur.
All that is not to say that it’s all smooth sailing in your home business. Internet or online marketing is a pretty simple concept, but not an easy road to instant and easy riches. The road to success is littered with obstacles. Be wary of the sharks out there, and there are many. The promises of easy money are many. Remember always: “If it sounds too good to be true, it normally is”
Then there are the Naysayers. friends and family who tell you “that won’t work” or “Are you crazy?” or “You need to be qualified as a computer programmer for that” or “You’re too old to start something new” or “You’re not old enough for that” and many more. I’m sure you have your own stories to tell. Don’t let anyone divert you from your plans. It takes hard work, investment of time and money and many hours of learning. Join a reputable marketing company that will help you in your endeavors. Be very, very wary of the “freebies” that abound on the Internet, and there are many.
Internet marketing, email marketing, affiliate marketing, and others don’t always pay off as quickly as you may expect. Some take weeks or even months to become profitable.
A good online marketer is one who is determined, and is not easily fazed. Even as a senior citizen, a teenager or in between, you can succeed at Internet marketing. It’s an exciting trip! Good luck!
